My friend and I recently had a conversation about hosting events, showers, parties and things. She was ranting that she hosted a shower and out of all 30 plus people that RSVPed only 5 or so showed up which left her with tons of food and extras. We actually hosted a "regrets" only shower a couple months back and no one regretted so we were expecting 60 people and only 20 showed up. We didn't really care- less work for us but the shower-honoree sure was embarrassed.
So my question is when is it okay to not call/show up or just plain rude and there is no excuse?
We had our annual pumpkin carving party last weekend and sent out an email so most everyone RSVPed. Emails are really the way to go as far as I am concerned. But some people didn't respond which is fine, really. However, I called one person that didn't respond because apparently she thought kids were invited and she STILL didn't respond or call back.
So when is it okay to not RSVP or regret or call? Is it ever? I am not Emily Post or anything but how hard is it in the digital age we live in to respond to email or call. I don't except much- really.
It is never okay to ignore an RSVP request. That is one of my pet peeves! Sorry you've had so much trouble with it lately.
